I know for a fact Pet Insurance has never once crossed your mind. It never crossed our mind either until one of our customers asked if we provided it. To our surprise we have a couple of carriers that do offer Pet Insurance!
First question we asked ourselves is "What does pet insurance even cover?". After some digging we found out that it offers the comfort of knowing accidents, illnesses, cancer, hereditary conditions, behavioral issues, and dental diseases are all covered. It covers exams, diagnostics, and treatments, including alternative therapies.
Pet Insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions. However, an injury or illness that is cured with no symptoms or treatments for 180 days can be covered in the future. Procedures such as tail docking, ear cropping, and claw removal as well as the costs associated with breeding or pregnancy are not covered.
Would your pet qualify? All dogs and cats 8 weeks old and up are eligible for coverage. Even older pets could be covered.
How expensive would it be? The premium for the policy is based off what type of pet, the pets age and breed, as well as your location.
